After graduating top of his class at the United States Military Academy, MacArthur worked as a junior captain in the years leading up to WWI. In 1917, MacArthur led the 42nd division in the and was promoted to a higher ranking General position. in 1941 with the threat of communism, MacArthur was named the commander of the armed forces in the far east and. In 1942 MacArthur was awarded the medal of honor and was promoted to supreme commander of allied forces in the southwest pacific. by 1944, he was named General of the army and had full control of the armed forces in the pacific. following the end of WWII, General MacArthur was in control of all the United Nations Troops at the start of the Korean War in 1950. It was then that the General attacked North Korean forces while President Truman was concerned about the involvement of the Chinese forces. when the Chinese attacked back full force to aid the North Koreans, MacArthur suggested use of nuclear weapons to which Truman quickly rejected this idea. General MacArthur was a well-respected and loved General as the entire country loved him for his dedication and work towards the betterment of the United States.
